At 16 years old, Roshain McDonald burst onto the music scene while still in high school. More popularly known as Shane-O, McDonald was still attending Kingston Technical High School when he was discovered by producer Rohan ‘Sno Cone’ Fuller in 2006 and recorded the hit Lightning Flash on the Applause Riddim.
Following this hit, Shane-O continued to produce hit songs including Crab Inna Barrel, Dogs In The Street, and Ghetto Prayer. He has also worked with numerous producers including Jam 2 Productions and Stephen McGregor.
Fast-forward five years and Shane-O is back on the music scene with a new single Heart Nuh Clean.
“Di song was inspired by a personal experience wid a fren. But something good came out of the experience still, ’cause di song is currently on top in Japan,” Shane-O said.
The track was produced by Gold Mine Production and he also recently did a song with Alozade entitled Looks Weh Wi Have.
Shane-O says his passion for music is based on one thing — lyrics. And with determination, he can make his way successfully through the business.
“Mi motivated to stay focused and keep my lyrics clean for my fans. My talent is in-born and mi inspired by my surroundings and di people dem who struggling to survive,” he said.
And in the hope of doing all this, he established his record label entitled Golden Records in June 2010. He is currently the only artiste signed but hopes to sign many new artists, as he believes in helping others to accomplish their dreams.
Fans can look out for more hit songs and new videos. He is also currently working on his album entitled One Man Against The World, which is due to be released by the end of this year.
Shane-O advises young artists who are coming into striving to succeed in the music industry to “work hard and when you do a song don’t give up on it”.

Shane O has weighed in on his reputation as one of the most underrated Dancehall artists in Jamaica.
“It’s just life, I don’t feel any way about it, and if people ago seh mi underrated, that mean dem know mi,” Shane O told DancehallMag. “If mi did underrated, nobody wouldn’t know me, suh mi nuh wah nobody a talk bout underrated, cause if mi did underrated, dem wouldn’t know me.”
He added: “Mi just a live and do my work, mi nuh business wah people wan seh.”
Over the last few years, Shane O, has released over two dozen songs including Island Breeze with Shane E, Pslam 23, Learn, Gone Too Soon, and Dark Room which gained the attention of American record executive, DJ Khaled. With Khaled’s endorsement, a new wave of fans and success followed suit. However, the notion that he’s an “underrated”, albeit, an immeasurably talented songwriter persists.

Gerald Eaton (born November 22, 1971) is a Canadian R&B singer-songwriter and music producer, also known by his stage name Jarvis Church.
Eaton is the lead singer for the R&B-pop group The Philosopher Kings, which reached its peak popularity in the 1990s. During the group’s ten-year hiatus, Eaton began a solo career, releasing the album Shake It Off in 2002 under the stage name Jarvis Church, derived from two parallel streets in Toronto, Ontario. The Philosopher Kings subsequently reunited and released a new album in February 2006. In 2008 he released his second solo album called The Long Way Home. In 2012 he released his third solo album The Soul Station Vol 1: The Songs of Sam Cooke, A Tribute, and in 2015 continued with his second in a series of albums spotlighting the music of soul singers called The Soul Station Vol 2: The Songs of Curtis Mayfield, A Tribute.

As a producer, in 1999 he discovered Nelly Furtado at the Honey Jam showcase in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and in 2001 he co-produced Nelly Furtado’s debut album Whoa, Nelly! with his Philosopher Kings bandmate Brian West. In 2001 they were nominated for the producer of the year Grammy. Their production team is known as Track and Field, and they also appear on the production credits of Esthero’s album Wikked Lil’ Grrrls. Track and Field also produced Canadian rapper K’naan’s albums The Dusty Foot Philosopher and Troubadour, and the title track from Stacie Orrico’s 2006 album Beautiful Awakening. He appeared on the song “Saturdays” by Nelly Furtado on the album Folklore.

He scored the music for and appeared on the television series Da Kink in My Hair in 2007.
