πŸ™πŸΎ Vybz Kartel’s Appeal date CONFIRMED for September 2017 πŸ™πŸΎ

A Court of Appeal judge has granted permission for convicted dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel and his three co-accused to appeal against their conviction and sentences.

Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, fellow entertainer Shawn β€˜Shawn Storm’ Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St John are all serving life sentences for the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.

Tom Tavares Finson, one of Kartel’s attorneys says the appeal date is confirmed for September 2017.

Tavares Finson also says today’s ruling is an important development in the process of getting justice for his client.

Kartel must serve 35 years before becoming eligible for parole, while St John was ordered to serve 30 years.

Both Campbell and Jones were ordered to serve 25 years before they become eligible for parole.

During the trial, defence lawyers indicated they had serious concerns about what they said were discrepancies, inconsistencies, missing data, and mismanagement in the collection of evidence.

The crown led evidence that on August 16, 2011, Williams was taken to Kartel’s Havendale, St Andrew house where he was beaten to death over two missing guns.

His body has not been found but the prosecution relied on common design, circumstantial evidence, voice notes and text messages to prove the case against the men.
